TAKEDOWNS Takedowns in Kenpo Kung Fu are always a fun light hearted method of wearing someone out. If your ability is higher than your assailant, you can throw them around all day without ever striking them which will wear them out quickly and you barely move your feet. Takedowns are when attacked via strike, grab or weapon and you redirect that energy to send them nowhere else but down. Other than throws, takedowns can be used in conjunction with chin na to better control a takedown. A takedown can put a nice finish to a technique, can start a technique off or be used to takedown then go into ground fighting. Takedowns are taught all throughout kenpo in techniques and special training just like chin na, ground fighting, and multiple man fighting. However there is a time in training where it is emphasized on more and in more detail just like chin na, ground fighting, and multiple man fighting. The larger portion of takedown training is taught during ground fighting since they blend together with one another nicely. NEVER TRY THESE TRAINING METHODS WITHOUT TRAINED SPECIALISTS; THESE DRILLS ARE DONE UNDER THE UTMOST SAFETY IN OUR KWOON WITH THE USE OF MATTS IN ORDER TO PREVENT INJURY. AGAIN THIS IS TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF OUR TRAINING. Click on the below methods for more information about their ways of self-defense.
