Spear
Traditionally the spear was on a wax wood staff and was the “opera” type spear heads seen today. The red tassel served as many purposes. One purpose of the tassel was for distraction and the other was to prevent blood from seeping onto the wood. The spear is of many favorites in Chinese martial arts due to its ease of handling and possibilities, also enhancing the hand movements as well. Frequently the spear was the first weapon of defense, once broken or abandoned; the sword was used afterwards depending on the rank of the soldier. To be proficient with the spear it takes 1000 days of daily continuous training. *REMEMBER THESE METHODS ARE TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT THE TRAINING IS LIKE AND A REFERENCE FOR STUDENTS AND NOT TO ACT AS A TRAINING TOOL.
