Kenpo & Self Defense

Self Defense is  becoming more of a necessity in today’s society with the increase in crime and violence.  To defend is to get out of a situation with as little notion as possible, either if it’s avoiding or blocking and maybe going to a counter into a sudden strike or take down.

The defender should always make sure to go no further than to defend, unless it means their  life or their attacker's life, but it should never boil down to that because there can even be control over that type of situation, except cases when people are in war. Knowledge not rank - because rank means nothing like the knowledge does, is the key to self-defense.

The desire of the student should be to hone their abilities well past the defense state.  Our training methods are well organized and work excellently in the art of self-defense and can be taught to any gender and most any age.

In our Kenpo Kung Fu classes there are many various ways to defend. The idea is to constantly work on bits and pieces of all simultaneously and the further you advance the more it comes together. In every step of ranking you have some general ways of defense called Basics, Techniques and Forms.

Unfortunately some statistics show that women have about a 20% chance of getting assaulted and college girls have a 50% chance of assault. Men don’t get assaulted as frequently but relatively get jumped by multiple people. Thousands of children are abducted each year. I can only ask myself….WHY!

You know I believe in an old story: This little girl was walking along the beach throwing starfish back into the ocean and an elder couple walked by replying “You know out of all those starfishes you are throwing back only one might make it, so all this effort is a waste.” The girl said “If one lives, then that one will affect many to come cycling onto the next for generations beyond meaning. So if all that work made a difference in one isn’t that one life important?” So if those statistics touched you, don’t become one, do something about it and let us put a stop to violent crime together.

Remember, we are not inheriting this land from our ancestors; we are merely borrowing it from our children. With no future, there is little hope.

*REMEMBER THESE METHODS ARE TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT THE TRAINING IS LIKE AND A REFERENCE FOR STUDENTS AND NOT TO ACT AS A TRAINING TOOL.
