Nunchaku

Nunchaku or “shuang jié gùn/ èr jié gùn” meaning, “two section staff” is a weapon that Master Bruce Lee was known for.

The nunchaku is a short-ranged, deceptive, quick moving weapon with whip-like attacks. It is a weapon so simple but with much intricacy.

Reigning mostly from Okinawa, the nunchaku was a weapon of defense when weapons were banded. Most practical against street smugglers, the nunchaku was also said to be used against the samurai.

They weren’t used as a toe to toe method against a katana but to strike the throat and vital areas while riding on horseback via jumping from the brush.

There are many disputes about this weapon, but every culture has different history patterns. Nunchaku was said to be used to remove grains from the husk of rice or soybeans.
