Jo An approximately four-foot staff used for closer maneuvers than the bo can do but still has the advantages of a long-range weapon. Jo/ tàijí dà gan or Taiji quarterstaff is very popular among the Japanese arts but just as popular in the Chinese arts. The Jo is a weapon that caters to beginners but can be so intricate at the same time in advanced levels of practice. Our Jo training consists of close quarter locks and striking. Short ranged joint locks are quite relative with the jo since it is somewhat small and easy to maneuver around than a bo, yet it still has the longer range than escrimas for circular movements and long range strikes. *REMEMBER THESE METHODS ARE TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT THE TRAINING IS LIKE AND A REFERENCE FOR STUDENTS AND NOT TO ACT AS A TRAINING TOOL.
