Kenpo & The Five Animals

Last But not least is the dragon. This animal is one of the most anticipating animals to learn and by far my favorite to share with my students and favorite to practice.

The dragon uses circular movements that are hard to break through and physical movements to stretch grace and flexibility and is the most superior of animals.

Mental awareness training develops concentration and alertness. Internal breathing emphasizing fusing the mind, body and spirit, development of spirit where strength is not used and to let the spirit control every move.

Dragon can move effortlessly in any direction and signifies the highest level of knowledge.

From the dragon we learn to ride the wind, to make mistakes and living through them breaking down each entity and savoring the content.

You master the realization that every situation has several alternatives than one thinks and to never be nervous about your judgments. You do your best at what you control and don’t worry about what you can’t control. Through preparation all things are possible.

Kenpo Kung Fu dragon training offers very fluid techniques with great detail and a form that incorporates great fluidity called “Dragon Dominates the Heavens.” Training to enhance this animal is mind alertness and to develop the use of all senses even if one is inapproachable.

Constant awareness is practiced and advanced tactics are used to strengthen the insight. A lot of what I call “multiple-mind” training is used so you don’t get one track minded. Even though this practice is used all throughout kenpo, it is emphasized greatly in dragon.

NOTE: One should not attempt any of the Five Animal exercises without proper supervision of a trained specialist.
