Cavity Press (tien hsueh)

Cavity press training is more advanced than other chin na training due to precision of the strike, knowledge of the vessels and organs affected and the chi (energy) flow used to strike the targets.

Cavity pressing in Chinese means “pointing cavity/blood” or “striking cavity/blood” to where it disrupts the chi circulation and ruptures vessels and arteries.

A very critical method used in advanced cavity press during snake kung fu training. There are 12 meridians and 8 vessels that are related to the internal organs.

Along this there are 700 acupressure/acupuncture cavities on the body that connect to these channels. Of these cavities 108 can be stimulated, 72 can destroy someone’s fighting ability, and 36 can seriously injure or kill them.

Jin striking is essential to use for penetrating power which uses power from the waist. American Kenpo refers to this as “directional harmony.” Also knowing the time of the day where each organ is most vulnerable due to that period of energy flow is essential for good technique.
